Welcome To Our Club

At PCVC our focus is on our players and their development. We work hard to make sure they learn the skills they need to take their game to the next level. In order to do so, we gear our sessions towards maximizing the learning process for our girls. Because a healthy and positive environment is necessary for player development, we strive to keep the learning process fun and exciting for our girls.

General Coaching Information

Any player and parent should expect quality coaching and instruction. Typically we require first year coaches with no prior coaching experience, to perform as an assistant coach for one year before they are selected to be a head coach. Then PCVC’s coach mentoring program ensures that first-time head coaches are assigned mentors to oversee and monitor training sessions. Our mentor coach supplies the support for young coaches to develop their own voice and coaching philosophy. We believe this path leads to quality coaching instruction.

Testimonials

“My daughter joined PCVC after playing for the first time on her 7th grade middle school squad.  The individual coaching she received by Coach Mark tremendously helped her improve her skill level and confidence.  The PCVC staff created a safe and enjoyable environment promoting cohesion among the players on her team.  When she returned to play her 8th grade middle school season, many of the players and parents on her 8th grade squad were very impressed on the improvements she had made over the JO season.”

My daughter learned so much at PCVC.  Her huge success in High School is directly related to the training she received at PCVC.  There is an expert coach for every facet of the game.  My daughter made JV and lettered varsity in her Freshmen year at high school.  Every girl on her 14’s squad made their high school team.  Most are on Junior Varsity as freshmen.  We have come back to PCVC every year. Gyms and equipment are top notch and in safe locations.  Tournaments are close by.  I would recommend PCVC to anyone who wants to succeed at this sport

“My daughter had the opportunity to spend her first year of JO volleyball playing for PCVC.  The coaches know the game and, more importantly, know how to teach it to a group of 13 year olds!  Her level of play, in our eyes, increased immeasurably. This organization promotes team work, friendship and fair, competitive play while helping each girl achieve her potential. Our family had a great experience with PCVC; one that I would recommend to any young lady that is willing to work hard to improve her game. ”

I used to wonder why this club was called Player’s Choice, but after one season with the club we knew it was a great choice for our daughter. There are so many good things to say about our experience during the 2012 season. My daughter learned so many new skills along with a perfect balance of fun. Our coach made sure the girls were prepared to move on to high school teams, and fully equipped them with what they should expect. The best part was, that not only did the coach care about the girl’s skills in the game, but also the physical and mental part of being an athlete. We made wonderful friendships and expanded our team’s skills without having to be pushed to win every game. The girls learned how to care for each other and play as a team. They learned how to try new things, and bring out the best in themselves. Our coach was well educated and skilled in teaching them how to be better athletes and fully dedicated his time for them. My daughter never wanted the season to end and I felt very satisfied my money was well spent. A positive experience in every way, we can’t wait for next season! Thank you Player’s Choice!

“I have had two daughters participate in the Player’s Choice JO program.  The oldest is currently in her second year playing in college, and whenever possible, returns to Player’s choice to help coach.  The second is enjoying her first year of high school play, and has developed a love for the game that in my opinion is largely due to her experience at PC.

Coach Dan Smith is a coach who truly “gets it”.  If you are looking for the typical intense, win at no cost, dog eat dog program, you should look elsewhere.  Coach Dan, and the entire staff at Player’s Choice put the development of the players first and focus on each individual players strengths, weaknesses and overall well-being as a player, and more importantly, as a person.  Winning is treated as a nice benefit, not a requirement.  Not even a main goal.  They keep proper prospective at all times and realize that if the girls are not having fun, they may as well not be there.  Loud, overbearing and “coach from the stands” parents are not tolerated.

In addition to the best volleyball instruction and skill improvement both my daughters received in any program, what they teach goes far beyond what happens on the court on tournament day.  At every Tournament, practice and meeting, they focus on teamwork and team building, real sportsmanship (a seemingly rare thing these days), proper diet and care of your body, the importance of schoolwork and studies, responsibility for yourself and to your team, and numerous other important life skills to help insure success not only on the court, but for their entire lives.  The coach’s at PC realize, and flat out tell the girls and parents- “very few, and probably none, of you are going to make a living playing volleyball.  So what you learn here needs to go far beyond what happens on the court.”  As a parent, I couldn’t ask for much more than that out of a sports program.”

“We have been very impressed with our participation with the PCVC volleyball program. My daughter’s skills and fundamentals improved considerably. Coach Mark provided the needed individual instructions to allow my daughter to make the J.V team as a freshman and that was a great accomplishment for her at a large high school.

I would say that the game is taken seriously here, but having fun and building friendships was not forgotten. The annual regional tournament in Columbus was a great time for both the team and the parents. It is clear to me that the PCVC program has provided skills and personal growth to my daughter to improve her whole person even off the court.”

Parent – Branden L.

“The coaching at PCVC is what makes it an outstanding club. The highly qualified coaches not only teach skills and teamwork, but poise as well. Both my girls’ skills improved, but it was their increased self-confidence from playing to the best of their abilities that helped them make their school teams. The coaches and positive parents’ support help make this an exceptional club.”

Parent – Lisa S.

“This is my daughter’s third year with PCVC and she would not even consider playing for anyone else.

She has had a wonderful experience every year with PCVC. The Coaches are great, teaching the girls not only the fundamentals and skills to advance their level of play, but also teaching them the importance of team work and having fun while doing it.”

As a parent that has been associated with Players Choice Volleyball Club for a few years, I have been so pleased with our choice of this club. The largest asset of PCVC is the coaching staff. The coaching team at PCVC is dedicated, fair, and completely invested. The coaching environment is supportive but challenging to each participant at the level they require. The bar is set high but the players are encouraged to grow in a positive environment that embraces work and play. Placed in this coaching environment, all players flourish and grow. They all leave the JO season with more depth as a VB player, new friendships and lasting memories.
